Swatch A Day #3

Well, to me it is still Saturday, even though officially it is 1:35 am on Sunday! Here is swatch #3:
Bobble Rib
Multiple of 8+5
Rows 1,3, and 5: P5, *k3, p5* rep *to*
Rows 2 and 4: *K5, p3*, rep *to*, end k5
Row 6: *K2, MB [(yo,k1) 3 times, turn to wrong side, sl 1, p5, turn to right side, sl 1, k5, turn to wrong side, (p2 tog) 3 times, turn to right side, sl 1, k2 tog, psso (bobble complete)], k2, p3* rep *to*, end k2.
This is not a particularly flattering image of my swatch as the bobbles got a little pressed up to the glass when I scanned them. I believe this is my first time making bobbles. I thought it would be hard, but it was actually quite easy. Once I did a couple of bobbles I had the pattern memorized and could accomplish the pattern pretty quickly.

Swatch A Day #2

Okay, day 2! This one is called
Eyelet Trellis Pattern.
A fancy trellis stitch
Multiple of 7
Row 1: *k2, K2 tog, yo, k3*, rep *to*
Row 2: *P1, p2tog tbl, yo, p1,yo, p2tog, p1*, rep *to*
Row 3: *K2 tog, yo, k3, yo, sl 1, k1, psso*, rep *to*
Rows 4 and 8: P.
Row 5: *Yo, sl 1, k1, psso, k5*, rep *to*
Row 6: *Yo, p2 tog, p2, p2 tog tbl, yo, p1*, rep *to*
Row 7 *K2, yo, sl1, k1, psso, k2 tog, yo, k1, rep *to*
Repeat these 8 rows for pattern.

I don't particularly like purling through the back loops when purling two together. It was a bit awkward and annoying. I don't know if I would knit something large based on this stitch because of the "annoyance" factor. But a lovely pattern nonetheless.
Facing Side
I messed up the first repeat slightly, but decided to leave it anyway.

Swatch A Day #1

Okay, I am going to start making and collecting swatches for myself, so that when I design a new garment I have a physical sample of the stitch on hand. I am going to try and create one swatch per day and share it with you, my readers. We'll see how long this lasts ;)

Here is my first:
"Double Barred Ribbing"
Multiple of 4 + 2
Row 1: P2 *yf, sl 2 pwise, p2*,  rep *to*
Row 2: K2, *p2, k2*, rep *to*
Repeat these two rows for pattern

Front
Back
This pattern goes really quickly 'cause you are slipping half the stitches on one of the rows. I like the effect of the bars on the facing side. The wrong side just looks like 2x2 ribbing.
